An eco adviser on Ed Miliband’s climate change committee has racked up 40,000 air miles by travelling to environmental conferences around the globe.
As a result, his journeys totted up to around 11 times more than the average Briton.
Just two months ago, Nigel Topping was one of the members of the committee calling for a tariff being imposed on frequent fliers in a bid to decrease flight emissions.
However, in the past year, he was jet-set for events dotted across the world, including Barbados, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia and the US.
Andrew Bowie said Topping's behaviour amounted to 'rank hypocrisy'

Shadow energy secretary Andrew Bowie blasted Topping's behaviour, saying: "This is rank hypocrisy.
"Once again we see those preaching this Mr Miliband-driven net zero zealotry are all too happy to impose significant burdens on others, but won’t practice what they preach,” he told The Telegraph.
He continued: "It’s one rule for them and another for everyone else. Kemi Badenoch and I have been clear that net zero by 2050 would involve significant cost to the country and to the consumer and it is simply not sustainable.
"It is a shame this Labour Government is still not prepared to do the same."

The government official was also able to enjoy luxurious hotels, staying at the five-star Bab al-Qasr hotel in Abu Dhabi while he attended the International Mangrove Conservation and Restoration Conference.
The resort is said to be inspired by the summer residences of the Sheikhs, fully decked out with a private sandy beach, boasting spa rooms and a restaurant suspended over the Gulf.
Topping also visited New York for the Climate Change Week conference, as well as Washington DC for the Global Inclusive Growth Summit.
He also flew to the Future of Food conference in the Netherlands and the Cop29 UN climate change summit in Azerbaijan last November.

More recently, the "net zero zealot" headed to Riyadh for the UN’s desertification conference before he flew to Barbados, where he spoke to crowds about his "zero carbon house" with a heat pump, solar panels and insulation, The Telegraph reported.
The news has followed the energy secretary fighting against the third runway at Heathrow Airport, insisting that it would lead to a stark increase in carbon emissions.
