GE Aerospace to invest millions in west Michigan facility

GE Aerospace says it will invest $70 million in its manufacturing facility in Muskegon.
This investment is part of $1 billion in manufacturing and supply-chain investment from GE Aerospace across America in 2025, said Matthew Lehner, a spokesperson for the company, in an email.
Lehner added that GE Aerospace plans to hire 5,000 workers across the country and that 50 job positions are available in Michigan. The Muskegon site produces engine components used in widebody aircraft engines as well as in military fighter jets and helicopter engines.
The Cincinnati-based company, which makes jet and turboprop engines and integrated systems for commercial, military, business, and general aviation, will use the investment to add new machines, update equipment and expand the west Michigan facility to support the production of components in the LEAP engine used in narrowbody aircraft, its site said.
The company's stock closed up 1.7% Wednesday.
U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Holland, said in a statement that the investment in advanced manufacturing would be great for west Michigan.
“This $70 million investment will create good-paying jobs, strengthen Michigan manufacturing, and allow West Michigan’s workforce to play an even great role in supporting our national security," Huizenga said.
